My first was a 1983 "I believe" Hydrosports x 270 with a 150 black max. I added a land & sea low water nose cone, jack plate & tried everything but could not add over 5 mph until I re designed & totally re engineered the pad, it was wider at the rear by around 1/2''. Howard Blades @ OMC I believe at the time told me, with there pad design I was there at top speed designed for that boat. I had lots of design ideas for him on how to change my pad & he was not getting involved. After the re-design I did I was able to go up two pitches in prop & ended up spinning a Chopper on the surface about level with the pad. Later I found a 2.5 Offshore Merc. for $7500.00 I also added that, LOL. That was my first bass boat & it got to be a scarey ride with the old steering back then. Fun to look back at it though.
