I think it depends on what you like to do and still call it fun. I bought a older used boat for two reasons. I like to fix and refurbish stuff and I'm good at it and I get that with it. Secondly I can't afford much and I was able to pay cash for it, NO PAYMENTS! But if you are not good at repairing things or don't like to, buy new or next to new, MY TWO CENTS WORTH. :p
