How bad were my stringers and foam? Well, it took me less than an hour to go from this: To this: My implement of destruction of choice is the floor scraper lying in the bow. I had not cut out the structure in the stern yet, because I could not tell what might be under it. Now I can finish cutting it out, since I can see the shape of the hull there now. The cross-piece in the front is the one piece that is solid. I think I'll just trim it up and keep it there. I tested scraping the hull with the floor scraper, and I think it will clean out the old foam to a point where I can sand out the remainder. I'm planning to use a belt sander. I think it will work. We shall see.
