has any one heard of or used this closed cell foam to pad a deck?

a few thaughts of mine where,
1. how well is the carpet glue going to work and will it eat threw the padding?
2. is 1/4 inch going to be thick enough to tell a difference or should 3/8s be used
3. is it really worth it?
