Im back in a carburated boat, Champion Fish & Ski 181 rack and pinion steering, the boat is hard turning to the left on plane only, I thought it could be because there is no torque tab (anode) behind the prop, do I need to add one? tried to purchase what is recommended at west marine but it was to close to the prop when I added it I believe it calls for a 31640T.
    Thanks in advance for replies.

What's your boat set up? Jackplate, Prop to pad, prop/make/pitch and RPMs at wide open throttle and trimmed all the way up? What year is your champ?

I believe my prop is a trophy P24, Also says Champion on it, not sure of prop to pad measurement , no jack plate, the year is a 1999, I believe the rpm is 5000.

That's a tad to much wheel for the 181 FnS. You'll want a 23 Tempest or 23 Trophy. Should be spinning them around 5800 RPM and high 50 MPH.

Right wheel. Check your compression and if it's good it's most likely your set up or your driving. Since you have no jackplate go check and see what hole the motor is mounted to the transom. You should be "second hole up" meaning there should be about an inch of space between the top of the transom and engine mount. Or check and see if you have ANYTHING disrupting the water flow from the pad to the prop like transducers or ladders ect. For top performance you should drop the hammer, get on plane, trim it ALLLLL the way up and wide open throttle.

the engine is mounted in the third hole, (6 holes total) the top of the engine mount is about an inch above the transom
