With the constant ever pushing of the government for more and more ethanol I advise everyone that I can to make your outboard ethanol safer by doing a few simple things.

First off if you havent replaced any fuel lines and/or bulbs lately now would be a good time to do it. They are making fuel lines and bulbs that are ethanol resitant......reson being is that the older butyl rubber lines can actually deteriorate from the ethanol.

Also if you do not have a water seperator now is the time to install one. It doesnt matter if your running a 2hp or a 300hp monster......if your motor takes a good enough drink of water through the fuel system if can lead to MAJOR engine damage.

Try and only put on enough fuel that you will use in a short time as in a week or less. Phase seperation of ethanol can setup in as little as 10 days when conditions are right.....and to top that off ethanol actually atracts water. Therefore keeping only the fuel necessary in the boat, using a water seperator and keeping the fuel treated is now even more important than ever.
