Do you periodically check the cables?
Make sure the tension is set correctly?
I've had my Minn Kota Edge for 4 years & never thought about checking the cable tension. That was until Friday, when I heard a pop & the pedal would not turn the motor. Good thing it was the end of the day.
Saturday I took the cover off to see how expensive it was going to be.
Turns out I was able to fix this myself. Saving me a long drive to the authorized service center & some $$$.
Apparently the cables where so loose that they were bunching up on the sides. One cable was still attached. The top cable came off the spool & wrapped around the wiring.
The cables should look like this when the correct tension is set:
Left cable in the picture is on the bottom, right is on the top.
