i upgraded my trolling motor to a 24v a couple of months after buying the boat, so i installed a charger for it. the only place i had room was on the underside of the battery compartment lid.the charger is a minnkota and it said something about not putting the charger directly over the batteries. it's not directly over the batteries but about half way. i have two optimas for the tm, and the starting battery is the wet one. i've been keeping the lid open when i store the boat in my garage, so when i open the garage door the smell of fuel is very strong.but when i'm home the door stays open.do you think it would be ok to keep the lid closed on the compartment? keep in mind the humudity here in fl. sorry this was so long winded.
