Bass:
Tough. Dennis Hudson said the bite has been very tough at his Tuesday evening tournaments, with sacks in the 6- and 7-lb. range winning for the last two weeks. With the lake in transition right now, the bait hasn’t moved into the creeks heavy, yet, and it’s been hard to get a bite. Dennis said three of his last four keepers have weighed more than 4 pounds, but they are about the only fish he has been catching. Dennis’ fish have come shallow and late in the evenings on a jig-head finesse worm in Bamabug or summercraw fished on rip-rap. He’s also caught some fish in the same areas on a Sweet Beaver in green pumpkin. He said others in his tournament have had some success pitching jigs to boat docks and blowdowns. Early in the morning, there’s a decent buzzbait bite around the shallow points and brush. The best bite anyone has heard of is way up the river above the shoals. With the falling water temps, shoal bass are getting fired up. They will hit a fluke, spinnerbait, swimbait or buzzbait.
