96 Fast Strike Rebuild.

I have a 96 150 Fast Strike. That is blown. Thinking of rebuilding it but have a few questions first. What am I getting into. I am handy and can work on my own car but rebuilding a engine would be a first. Second there are quite a few powerhead dealers on the web. Are there ones I should stay away from. Third is putting a 175 powerhead on a 150 just a straight swap. Any help and advice is appreciated.
