Ok, so I'm hoping this question isn't too stupid but I've been told there aren't any so here goes. Until I recently extended my boat trailers length I was unable to use a transom saver and just used the tilt/trail lock in its down position, holding the motor in up position while trailering. I've since modified my trailer and can now use my transom saver. A buddy of mine insists that he lowers his motor until it contacts the rubber v and then he continues lowering the tilt until it actually begins to pull the motor tightly into place. Then he uses the tarp strap. Is this the normal way of doing it?.....as my manual does not say to do this when using the tilt/trail lock......what would be the difference? Hope my explanation makes sense.
