A Michigan man who won 2 million dollars in the lottery is still eligible to collect food stamps. Apparently to qualify they don't look at your assets only at your income. The interest he earns on the winnings is low enough to mean he is still eligible for food stamps. He bought a car and a house and the rest of the money is apparently invested. Not sure what he invested in (maybe a CD with a real low interest rate or a money market account) but even if he was making 2% a year on his investment that would be $40,000.00 a year. I must be doing something wrong
