I failed to mention this earlier when it happened since I was trying to get something out of this company for causing some issues. So I am gonna spill the beans tonight.
**Leading up to it**
Back in July, my wife and I were planning a trip to a freinds cottage near Phillups Wi. The thursday night before the weekend, I swung into the Medford Kwik Trip and filled up the boat since they were the only station that didn't jack their prices yet. I put in a lil over 37 gallons to make sure I had enough (new lake so I never know).
First got out saterday morning. Friend backed me in and then went and parked my truck. I had my boat idling while I was gettingthe rods out and waiting for him. After I picked him up, I idled away from the landing, then off to the race's. We made it 100 yards and the boat just died. Trying to refire it wouldn't do anything. I hung off the back of the rig for half hour or so checking for spark etc. After being frustrated with it, I fished near the landing for awhile then loaded up and left.
**After Effects**
I took it in to get it looked at. After a bit of checking fuel pressure, white bubbles were comingot of the pressure nozzle. He said "we have water issues!" Great I am thinking. So we need to take a fuel sample. we shoved a hose in and pumped out 1 gallon into a glass jug. After 15 min and letting it settle, it seperated into a 60% water 40% fuel mix.
I called up Kwik Trip immediatly and told them what happend. I ended up talking to some big shot in La Crosse. He gave me the speech of how it is impossible water came from their gas and blah blah blah. I told them I am losing money for missing tournys, going to have a repair bill that who knows the extent of it. I basically told him, its gonna be cheaper for him to pay for the fuel system to be cleaned then to replace parts.
Needless to say, they paid me out for all damage and repair bills, what it cost me to dispose of 37 gallons of watered down gas (which was $250) as well as a couple hundered dollars worth of gas cards and a lil cash extra for the "issue" we had.
I found out the stat came in and tested their gas and found water in them.
I kept the gas and my family uses it to burn brush etc, and I ordered 6 new St Croix rods and Shimano reels and I have a few gas cards to hand out at christmas!
So the moral of the story is that don't buy Kwik Trip Gas!! Unless you want a free tune-up and new gear
I am just glad they covered it. I was worried my year was coming to an end!
