[ICAST 2024] The HydroScaler – A Cleaner Fish Scaler

Scaling fish can be a pain and a mess but sometimes it’s a necessity for a whole fish recipe, so walking around ICAST 2024 I found a neat little fish scaler that could help with both factors, the HydroScaler. This is a water-powered fish scaling tool that advertises an easier and cleaner time scaling fish. Using the same concept as peeling eggs under running water, the HydroScaler uses water to help lift the scales away from the body of the fish and then washes them away. It is a relatively simple tool made of lightweight hard plastic with an angled head at the front with no sharp edges or teeth involved like traditional fish scalers. This unique design helps remove the fish scales without damaging the skin of the fish, as well as keeps your hand further back away from any spines. After you are done scaling your fish the Hydro Scaler also works as a standard hose nozzle and can be used to clean up your fishing cleaning table.
