I had a heck of a day on the lake fishing with my daughter, she caught her share of good fish & we really enjoyed ourselves.
When we got home I checked the phone messages & My Wife had called 3 times, very unusual, her voice sound pretty stressed out so I called her cell # right away.
After we had left for the lake this morning her Father called & asked her to take him to the hospital, said he felt so bad he doubted he could drive himself. He lives about an hour away so my Wife called into work & took off to him pick up.
The emergency room Doctor ran a few test on him & within 3 hours came to the conclusion that my paw-in law has 2 lungs full of cancer & very little time left.
Matter of fact, they couldn't believe he's been living with so much pain without seeing a doctor. They started him on a morphine drip right then & have already lined up with hospice.
So everyone ... please .... never take your seeing your loved one's for granted !!! This man is a kind, good hearted old soul & a very talented musician that will be truly missed when he's gone.
It's going to get rough during all of this, my precious wife has multiple sclerosis & still works a 40 hour week at our local hospital, she's physically fragile but very strong willed. Like many other couples, we've been thru a lot of joy & grief together since we've been married.
She is very close to her Dad & worships the ground he walks on.
You just never know what tomorrow will bring us & that is why I make an effort to never go to bed MAD at someone I care about.
