Garmin GPS - Anyone Ever Open 1 Up

Nightmare

I run a pair of Garmin 162 gps, console and bow. (Yeah, I know they're "old" but they work fine and they're paid for). What I'm specifically curious about is if anyone knows what kind of memory is in them, AND, if it's something able to be replaced for more, can the machine recognize, or otherwise, address the added capacity

Anybody?

I have total unlock on HotSpots but here a couple years ago they released a skad of CDs with bouqou smaller lakes on them. They were compatible with one exception, they loaded by map grid instead of individual lakes because it also included road maps. Therefore most of the files were larger than the 2.5mb memory capacity of my 162s. Garmin originally listed the products as compatible (which they were except you couldn't stuff most of 'em in ) so I bought one. That's when I figured out the file size thing and pizzed me off.

I was able to take it back and get refunded after I spoke with Garmin, explaining THEIR error, and they told Gander Mountain to do it even though it was opened (software no-no for returns). Part that aggravated me then was Gander Mountain did it but then charged me a 15% restock fee.:confused::mad: So, it cost me $20 to get a refund of $105. If I'd a known they were going to do that, I'd a copied it first. Woulda only been able to read it on computer and unable to load the gps so that woulda been about the right price. ;)
