Rebecca Swindull
A St. Augustine resident and second-year law student at Florida State University is a member of one of two teams that earned first place national honors last month at moot court competitions.
Rebecca Swindull of St. Augustine; Lauren Davis, Fleming Island, also a second- year law student; and Jennifer Gutai, a third-year law student from Syracuse, N.Y., won the Gabrielli National Family Law Competition on Feb. 26 and 27 at the Albany, N.Y., Law School.
They were coached by Tallahassee attorney Arthur Stern III and defeated Valparaiso University School of Law in the final round of competition.
This is the third time FSU has won the Gabrielli National Family Law Competition.
The honor was one of four recent honors for FSU law students. Another team won the Luke Charles Moore Civil Rights Invitational held Feb. 26 and 27 at Howard University, Washington, D.C.
In early February FSU teams won two first places in Religious Freedom Moot Court and National Security Law competitions, both held in Washington.
Swindull is the daughter of Polly and David Swindull, St. Augustine.
