As side work I do alot of partial restorations and face lifts to older boats. Especially with the economy being like it is people are hanging onto there older boats longer and giving them a face lift.

Right now I am recarpeting and reflooring a 1991 Tidcraft Wildfire for my cousin.

I wanted to give anyone attempting this a few tips.

If you are reflooring once you rip out the old be sure and inspect the stringers.......It will do no good to reflooring if the stringers need attention. If they are good to go........LET THAT BOAT AIR OUT..........remeber this area has been closed up since the boat was made and there will be alot of moisture under the pold floor. Let it dry completly before putting in the new floor.

Its not hard just time consuming.

Also make sure that it is CLEAN...........vacume every nook cranny and corner. LOL it will amaze you how many lures, sinkers even line spools I have found under the old floor.

As far as a cleaning agent use ACETONE. It dires quickly and the acetone will not compremise the fiberglass because of this.

Measure 2 or three times before you cut......it can save you money if the cut is correct the first time.
