I just started reading this book about a week ago and it will scare the heck out of you. It is written by Michael Lewis who wrote Liars Poker (a non-fiction account of bond traders in the 80's and the growth of the securitized mortgage market) and the Doomsday machine (which is a nonfiction account of the real estate crash done by interviewing the people that made billions in calling the collapse before it happened).
These may sound like dry reading but they actually read more like a story. The author worked as a bond trader on Wall Street in the 80's and he really gives the reader an inside view of how stuff works. He left trading because it made him feel sick they way things were done and he doesn't pull any punches in describing the crap that goes on there.
This latest book (Boomerang) goes through the European Debt crisis and it will have you shaking your heads all the way through. You would think he is writing fiction with some of the accounts he gives but its all true. He actually travels to the countries and meets with officials and others to give a very telling account of how things got to where they are. Don't read his book before bed...it will give you nightmares.
