Boat races for Backstoppers on the Mississippi river !!

Hello everyone, I am new to the site and wanted to let you know about a great event being held on the Mississippi river at Portage De Sioux, Missouri on Saturday July 10th 2010. This event will support Backstoppers, who take care of families of fallen firefighters, police officers and EMT's who are killed in the line of duty. Right now it is in the planning stages and we are looking for corporate sponsors to donate either money, products, or services to help put this on. Backstoppers is a 501-C3 charity,so tax donation letters will be available for those who wish to donate. This is a "run what ya brung" event, anything from waverunners to jon boats to bass boats to offshore boats will be welcomed. Heck you can even bring your canoe if you feel like paddling against the current!! It will be your boat against the clock running upstream for the 1/4 mile. ALL WATERCRAFT WILL BE SAFETY INSPECTED PRIOR TO RACING. There are boat launches all over the area and shuttle service will be provided to spectators to the host marina which is the Palisades Yacht Club. There will be food, beverages and beer available for purchase as well as BBQ from a bunch of fireman who know how to cook!! A fireworks display will follow the event and is included with admission. We are working on more entertainment such as bands and things for the kiddos like a bounce play area. I will post more info as I get it and pass it along to you.
