I have just gotten back from the Birmingham boat show. What a FREAKIN JOKE 8 bucks to park in the parkin deck cause all the free ones were gone. then 9 bucks a piece to get in. ok so go ahead and say 30 bucks and haven't even gone in yet . Walk in and the first boat I see was a Skeeter with that new 4 stroke yammy stuck on the back. I didn't even look at the price on that rig.
Looked around a little bit and noticed that a fairly well known outdoors store here in Birmingham wasn't even there. Come to find out the fine crooks of Birmingham and Jefferson county wanted $26,000 dollars for the booth that they normally set up at. Soo Marks outdoors just stayed put at their normal place of buisness and didn't even come. Can't blame them for that much money.
OK back to the boats which is why the show is there...it is a Boat show or so it says. If you wanted a 60000 dollar ski boat, yup they got any kind you want...if you want a pontoon boat from bottom level all the way up and all different brands, you were in luck. And if you wanted a bass boat to see all kinds of brands, colors options, features. You are S**T out of luck. Ok that may be exagerating a tad but not much. If you wanted to see what was the latest in say BassCats there were 3 there. and 1 was a Jaguar (which looked like a really sharp boat). There were actually a few Campions there, bunch of Nitro's I guess since Basspro is just up the road. A couple of Skeeters and slim pickins on even Ranger's. Where are the Phoenix boats, the Stratos, a Bullet even?????????????? I have no idea. One boat that did catch my eye was a Legend Alpha series. This looked like a fine boat. Very good looking and not too bad priced for a new boat. Boat show special was $39,995 regular like $43 grand.
I know this is called a Boat show...Not a Bass Boat Show but being in Alabama I would think there would be more fisherman than folks looking for a strictly ski and no fish boat. But who am I to say or even think for that mater what needs to be there.
Ok needless to say I was not very pleased with the Birmingham boat show, I hope others in the future and around the country are better than this one was. Just proved even more that Birmingham and Jefferson County are full of Crooks that want as much money as they can possibly get.
I guess I am done with my Bitc*in now.
