The size of Anaconda evading the bass rig today. Wife and I went fishing today...hunting for Mr. Largemouth. Caught two small bass, but did see several hundered snakes. Well! it appeared to look at a hundered or more. Wife is one person that will bail out of the Skeeter when a snakes is near by. Lucky for her, this wasn't the day to do it. I didn't see any snakes near the boat, but the wife tells me she saw them under the boat.
Now the rest of the story.
Left the lake at 2:30 and arrives home at 3:15. The distance from lake to home is 35 miles. At the lake I do all the prep to stow away the reels/rod, etc. Also to place the transom/motor support. See that the boat cover is buckles down and tight. This takes about 10/15 minutes before we get underway to travel. When we arrive home and before backing the rig into the garage (boat garage), I remove the transom/motor support, open any drain plugs, and remove the Yamaha motor cover. When I started to unbuckle the motor cover at the from cowling... WOW! WOW! There it was...a 7' Anaconda snake. Well it looked like it was 7 feet long. All coiled up in the splash well and ready to strike. After some thinking how I was going to remove this "dangerous deadly viper" without damaging the boat, decided to put a small rope into a one inch plastic pipe with a loop to snag this creature around the neck. First try and it worked, and next came the double bladed ax to finish off the hitchhiker from the lake.
After some thought, I did tell the wife. Now I'm waiting to see if she will venture to the lake again.
Follow Up: The snake (water snake) was actually 2' long.
