Well, I'm back from Canada. Long trip, well worth the time, effort and expense.
The first day on the lake there, I caught a 52" muskie on my second cast - and they say it is the fish of a thousand casts - LOL. I caught several muskie througout my stay (I was there 10 days). None of the others were larger than 40" though.
It rained like mad most days, but we had several beautiful days of sunshine, but lots of wind. Traveled to several lakes connected to ours via creeks. Lots of fun to jump a beaver damn with a 16 foot boat powered by 20 hp.
Spent one day trying for large lake trout, but bupkis. They were deep, as the water was warming up fast there.
Lots of walleye and good shore lunches, many northern pike, my largest was 29 1/4", though there were some 40" fish caught in our group.
The best days were spent on the smaller lakes. The water there was cooler, and the smallmouth started bedding while we were there. I had multiple 50+ fish days, and one that had my fishing partner and I putting almost 200 fish in the boat in about 11 hours of fishing! Great fun.
At one point I was fishing down a bank lined with boulders, using a large white Zoom trick worm riged texas style. Saw about a 3 lb smallie pick it up and swim off with it. Went to set the hook and no joy. Pitched right back in there and the same thing, for three or four casts. I was right on top of this fish. Then it dawned on me, it picked up the bait in the center every time and was carrying it off the nest to drop it. My brain finally engaged, and I rigged it wacky style. The next cast, I saw it swim off again, worm hanging out of both sides of its mouth. This time, I won, and boated a nice 3 lber. Next cast, it's twin. Fished wacky style the rest of they day. This was the 200 fish day, what a blast.
Anyway, glad to be home.
FYI, for all of you who will say "this is worthless without pictures", my camera got wet while we were there, and my muskie picture is on a friends SD card. I will post pictures when I get them from him.
