I had the privilege today of taking part in a Wounded Warriors Tournament at Vail Lake, a private lake in Southern CA.
There were 60 boaters and we each took out two Marines and had a great tourney.
It was really cool to be able to give a little something to these guys and woman. Everyone of them had spent at least one deployment in Iraq and most of them had a purple heart. One of the guys I fished with had been there twice.
It was awesome, not the fish catching slugfest we were hoping for but alot of fun. I think 15lbs won it.
Alot of these guys had never been fishing before, in fact the big fish was caught by a marine from NY, on his second cast ever he nails a 7+, needless to say he's hooked.
I think there should be way more of these types of things to show our appreciation to the troops who put it on the line in service to this country.
Maybe something for local clubs and orgs to think about.
