I had a guy bring me a boat tonite that is pretty new and was sorry to tell him why it was water logged. Alot of times when we rig a hull (and I did it in my younger days) we drill a hole or run a screw into glass mounting something and throw some caulk or 5200 or what ever on it and call it good!
However the proper way to mount anything is to drill the hole for a guage, hotfoot screws, debth finder, ect., then to do it rite ya need to re-seal the exposed wood with RESIN!! then mount it!! then it is sealed and won't let water in the core.

Anyway, it's gonna cost him 2000 for a new floor in a nice 4 yr. old boat because someone put a hot foot in it and a drain, and a stereo and drilled threw the floor and left the core exposed to get water saturated!
