OK folks,

I guess i'm a glutton for punishment. We have a couple of local watersheds in the area that I would like to fish, but are no-motor lakes, so I've been kicking around the idea of getting a flat bottom or something similar. Well, in my usual fashion of over-doing things, I've found a 1989 Ranger 350V with no outboard. I'm gonna be in this boat cheap, and figure I shouldn't probably be in too deep even if I lose my mind and spend too much.

The boat I have found is in pretty good shape hull-wise. faded top cap as you would expect, but not beat up too bad at all, just not a real looker at the moment. trolling motor is good, it has a couple of decent deck seats, but the regular seats are gone and replaced with cheap plastic seats. still has the gas tank, which i'm pretty sure I will remove. carpet is mostly gone, but i'll have to clean it up and re-carpet and fix some hatch covers that are loose or not attached...

The question I have is the front deck. at some point, somebody did some glass repair around the front seat and a little forward. the repair itself seems to be solid and i'm not seeing or feeling any weakness in the deck. the problem is that the repair itself is not very smooth looking and i'm sure it will look bad under the carpet if I don't smooth it out. i'm looking for suggestions on the best way and maybe the easy way to even it up before I put carpet down...anybody got ideas? link to picture of the deck below...
