Does anyone have real word experience with this prop. I am running a laser 2 on a Triton 17 pro with a 115 optimax pro x's. Getting 50 gps with full tank and wife and kid. Hole shot is just .ok.. Low 50's alone. Literature is claiming all the benefits of 4 blade PLUS more top end. Is this true?

Generally speaking a four blade will decrease your speed vs a three blade. You will get better handling though. Those numbers your post sound pretty respectable for a 115 on a 17ft boat

Yeah no issue with the top end on my part. Hole shot could be better though. I have read people gaining top end with that new 4 blade. All I have read until this new prop came out is everything you stated. Deifies conventional logic except that more than usual cup has been added I read. Could explain the top end gain.

This prop was developed for aluminum hulls..small hub ..I have a 17 pitch on a crestliner VT17 with a 75 merc 4 stroke..all holes plugged with an unreal holeshot.43 GPS with 2 people
with a padless hull it was designed to not blowout in corners..It wont..

I found a review a guy did with a skiff and a 115 fourstroke. He gained a good deal of torque and hole shot twice as fast as the three blade. 5mph top end gain also
I see a 21 pitch in my near future

21 pitch on a 115 opti would be my choice too.because the hub is only 12.7.. it should blast your Triton right out of the hole and get some good acceleration....cool if a dealer would let you try one. They say Merc designed prop around flat hull transoms...So what..Ive seen stern drive Bravo props haul ass on 20 ft bassers with 250 proxs..
    there is a test out there with my motor and hull with a 15 pitch..2 people 5400 RPms 39 mph..its a (5500 mot0r)..I go nah..bought a 17 and it will turn 5650 with 2 people full of gas at 43 GPS....read this.....
    • Note: Flo-Torq III Hub Kit 835257K9 is recommended for 40-60 HP BigFoot/Command Thrust (CT) and 75-115 HP Optimax to reduce clutch rattle

    • Mine has flo torque 2...has a tad of rattle...changing it out..

flo torque 2 is the staple hub..been around awhile...you have a 2...3 is new..says 3 on the box..prolly can't tell by looking unless part# stamp comparison.
a little different material..2 is fine to test with...slip off laser slip on spitfire..tighten and run...3 designed for 4 blade because of a little more weight with extra blade..

Thanks Kipp. I actually just found a review of a Triton 17 explorer with a 115 merc 4 stroke. The boat gained about 1 mph more and 3 seconds faster to 30mph. That little opti should be torquey as hell with it. I will post numbers.

I finally have used this prop. It has improved hole shot and I have gained maybe 1 mph. Where I really notice is at easy cruising speed at say 30-35 mph, if I put the throttle down it will set you back in the seat. Handles turns better too.
