Time Line early 80's:
Around the early 80's John Storie wanted a shorter, light, fast boat. Along came the "Mean" 15fter, 86 inch beam Champion. Rated for 115. Performance was ok with the 115 but really shined with the 150's. Know of one with a 200 and was told a story of one with a 225. I remember Stories being black with grey stripes and smoking fast. Dont really understand why he decided to do a shorter boat. My guess is to keep up with skeeter and thier 14 and 15fters (starfires I think). It sold ok but was truely out classed by the 16'8. Production was on and off until the mid 90's. Still see a few around here. Would be a nice boat for small resoviors or gated community lakes.
