I saw this in the news today and it really got me mad.
On Christmas night, Federico Freire, 27, who is on leave from Afghanistan, went to the movies at the Carmike Royal Palm 20 in Bradenton to see “Little Fockers” with his wife, Kayln. A group of about 20 teens were being obnoxious and loud during the movie, so the couple asked the teens to be quiet, reports the Bradenton Herald.
When the teens began swearing, Kayln Freire went to find a manager. The youths were then asked to leave, according to the Herald.
The couple, who were already aggravated over the incdent, also decided to leave shortly afterward.
As the couple exited the theater just before 10 p.m., Kayln Freire told the Bradenton Herald she was surrounded by about 15 girls who appeared like they were going to attack her.
A witness, who was packing heat, offered to escort the couple to safety. Federico Freire said he told his wife to go with the witness. Seven males then surrounded Federico Freire and began to kick and punch him, reports the Herald.
A crowd of about 100 people began to form.
When Freire looked to his wife, he said he saw a young man punch her in the face, knocking her out, reports the Herald.
Freire told authorities he went after the guy. Deputies arrived shortly thereafeter.
A deputy asked a 16-year-old old guy to leave several times, but the teen refused and struck the deput. A 17-year-old also hit the same deputy in the arm and resisted arrest after he was also asked to leave, according to the sheriff’s office.
All available deputies were asked to come to the theater to help restore order, according to the release.
Federico Freire told the Herald: “I’ve lived in this town. I know how trashy it can be.”
Five teens were arrested, including a 17-year-old who struck a deputy and was stunned by a Taser.
The fracas caused the theater manager to close early.
