engine trim operation

The other day on the water I hit the gas and got one hell of a surprise. The trim lever is in the throttle handle. I had accidently hit it with my elbow and not knowing it. It was a few feet of exciting ride. water over transom and in the bilges. what i am now doing is taking the trim from the control handle and installing it on a separate switch on in the helm. Anyone else have this once in a life time ride?
