I have a 2006 Stratos 285XL with a 150HP Johnson. Currently it has a Renegade 4-blade 13.5 x 25 pitch prop and is running WOT 6000RPM and only 48MPH top speed. I tried a 3-Blade Raker 14.5 x 24 pitch and it increased my top speed to 58MPH but did not lower my RPMs. I also tried a Renegade 4-Blade 13.5 x 27 pitch and it increased my top speed to 56MPH and decreased my WOT RPMs to 5800. The only problem was that it would shoot my RPMs up to 6000 if i did not have it trimmed just right. It was like it was bogging down and not going anywhere on take off unless the trim was just right. It was also super slow on take off. I do not have a Jack Plate. Please let me know what my problem is. My current prop the 13.5 x 25 Renegade has a good take off and doesn't bog down but like i said earlier it is running at too high an RPM and i do not want to wear out my engine.
