Last week I spent some time on the phone with Darris Allison's right hand "man" (or in this case woman...his wife Nancy)
Nancy and I talked for a little while about any new items of interest that ALLISON BOATS has for this year.

Not much has changed for the Allison boat line-up for this year. They still offer 5 models of Bassboats (totalling over 10 different configurations) and of course their line of Sportboats and Raceboats.

The venerable XB2002 is still around for at least a couple of more years. This highly versatile and "mistunderstood" boat is a fantastic fisher for the angler only needing a mid-sized rig that is low on frills but high on thrills. Owning one of these will cause more arguments over what gets passed more, other bass-boats or gas pumps.

The attached picture below shows an XB2002 "FasBass" rigged for an experiment with the small-block (2.6L) lightweight 200 hp ETEC from Evinrude. Results were reported with no load it reached over 90 mph and at optimum cruise speed (30ish mph) attained 10 MPG!!! Think about that folks. The 24 Gal fuel tank all of a sudden doesn't seem "too small". With todays fuel prices, what would you rather be filling up, a 50-60 gal fuel tank or a 24-30 Gal fuel tank (while maintaining the same useable range)? The XB2002 has steller performance with motors as small as 130 hp, but rig it with a 150 or 175 and you will have an effecient and FAST boat that will outperform other rigs running 225's and 250's!

The XB2002 doesn't require a 36V Trolling motor either. In fact, this boat will fish just fine with the biggest of 12V Trollers (ie. 55lb thrust). Its hull is so effecient that it doesn't take much power to glide it through the water...even when fighting a stiff wind or current. Go up to 80lbs of thrust and you can almost put it on plane!
Everything about the XB2002 screams effeciency. This also includes towing in to your favorite lake. Over long distances and up and down hills, a V6 powered mid-sized tow-vehicle will do the job with ease. Hook it up to a full-size V8 or Turbo diesel and its not hard to forget you are towing a boat!

With the resurgence of popularity of the 18-19.5 ft boat with 150/175 and 200 hp, the XB2002 is Allison's choice to fill this niche'.
