This is my new, to me, bassboat. A 1998 Ranger 519DVS Comanche, Forrest Wood Anniversary Edition, Mercury 225 hp EFI. Just wanted to share a picture of it and hopefully get some input on 2 things about it. One, is how "likable" was/is this particular Ranger to fisherman. I love it so far and love the ride but I've heard things about the Comanche series starting with the number 4, like the 461VS for example, out-riding my boat. But, I believe my boat was the biggest boat that Ranger offered in 1998 and it was probably the best money could buy since it was the biggest of the Comanche "5" series. Just wondering if any of you are familiar with this 519DVS and how much you liked it compared to other Ranger designs and even other brand boats. Second thing I wanted to post about is, I feel like I got a fairly good deal on the boat. I gave $11,500 and the boat is in decent shape but it was lightly weathered and may need new carpet soon. I've attached a pic of the metal flake fading in the worse area so maybe you can tell me what to try...marine grade wax, sanding? This is actually about the only bad place on the boat. Overall, the boat looks great and still shines for the most part...despite a few little flaws. Do you think I got a fairly good deal?
