Maybe its just me but seems like the industry is kinda ignoring the market for mid-sized fiberglass rigs. I get that the boat companies will be pushing their flagship tournament rigs like the pros use and who wouldnt love to own one? After that though seems like they skip right over highlighting their 17-19 footers and go straight to promoting tin rigs. As Rev mentioned Mercury isnt offering a 175hp four stroke, its either 150 or go with a SHO (or maybe an gen 2 E-tec). With so much talk in recent years about how the boat industry is pricing the average american right out of the sport you would think there would be a little more promotion of the mid rigs. Now hypothetically speaking as I will never be able to afford a new boat (maybe a new to me boat will be a dream for the distant future) but if i was single with no kids, I would likely be in the market for a new boat. There is still no way I could look at the 21ft 250hp rigs but an 18-19ft rig with a 175-200hp would be what I would want to look at. I dont want to be pushed to tin boats (last time i was serious boat shopping a salesman tried that and I walked out). I know the aluminum boats have gotten much nicer than they used to be but I just have no interest in every owning one. Has anyone else noticed this trend or am I just seeing trends that are not there?
