How many lake of the Ozarks fisherman do we have here?
I went today at day break to L. Gale. Four early birds beat me, but three of us pulled in at the same time. Took me a while, but figured out the crappie liked light colored jigs. Didn't really start catching them till about 930. But when they turned on, boy they were hitting every cast. Probably caught 30+ 8"-9" and about 10 above 10". Most were females who hadn't spawned yet. They were caught inside a dock well hidding in the shade chasing minnows. Had to leave by noon to come home and do chores. It was alright though, the crazies were on the way.
Threw a green and yellow crank, with zero strikes. Then thought I'd try a yellow buzz for the heck of it, nothing. Switched to an orange spinner, and some 8-10" follow it back, but still nothing.
That's my brief excursion, what's yours? I fish for fun, so I have no problem telling what I used, but it's up to you to find that sweet spot.
