Nice catchy title, huh? The water temps in North Mississippi are in the low 60's for the most part. The bigguns will be heading for the shallows. They'll be very finicky on what they bite during this period, but lunkers can be caught. This is the time of year when lizards are some of the best baits to throw. From my experience, a female on the bed can't stand for a lizard to come sliding into that area. Sometimes she will just pick it up and move it. But if you're patient enough, you can really piss her off. That's when you might want to keep a firm grip on the rod. Because when you finally tick her off, she will hit with a vengeance. Some great bass fishing can occur when this time of year hits. So get out there, and take a kid with you. This is the time to pass on your knowledge to someone that wants to learn. We need to teach our future fishing buddies everything we can while we can. And it can be a very rewarding experience for the both of you! The time is precious, but the memories are forever!!
